Awards and Grants

2004—R1edu

R1edu is a consortium of research universities that pool their resources and knowledge to provide access to distance learning courses and reference materials. Each year, they recognize outstanding faculty for their work in online education. In 2004, Linda Ettinger, AIM Academic Director, and Jane Maitland-Gholson received the award for their innovative work with the AIM Online Program.

2003—Alfred P. Sloan Foundation

The AIM Program received an Officer Grant from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation for Curriculum Development of the AIM course, Teaching in a Virtual Environment.

1999-2002—US Department of Education (OUS state-wide initiative)

The AIM Program received funding from the Learn Anywhere Anytime Program (LAAP) Grant, Fund for the Improvement of Post Secondary Education (an OUS state-wide initiative) to develop AIM's fully online degree program.

1991—Portland Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce

In 1991, the Portland Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce (now the Portland Business Alliance) recognized the AIM Program for its outstanding support of business and industry. The award was created to recognize outstanding university and college programs that serve adult students and specifically contribute to meeting labor and employer needs in the Portland metropolitan area.
