About the AIM Program

AIM: For a Higher Performing Career

If you’re a mid-career professional with an ever-growing responsibility for managing information, people, technologies, and resources, the online Applied Information Management degree can take you to the next level in just two-and-a-half to three years as a part-time student.

Big Picture Thinking

Unlike traditional information technology programs, AIM takes an applied, multidisciplinary approach, preparing you with a big picture perspective on managing information in a wide variety of organizations and positions. You’ll come away with a respected master’s degree from the University of Oregon and skills you can use immediately in your career.

Applied Skills

In 1985, Tektronix managers met with academic leaders and created a first-of-its-kind initiative to ensure that their managers had the skills and knowledge to excel in the rapidly changing information environment. The result was the Applied Information Management degree from the University of Oregon—now a successful and prestigious, multidisciplinary master of science degree from an accredited institution with award-winning instructors, and a worldwide reputation. Today, AIM is well-known for its unique applied approach and teaching students real-world skills they can put to use immediately in the workplace.

Multidisciplinary Vision

AIM departs from traditional information technology programs by incorporating a variety of disciplinary perspectives, including educational technology, information science, communications, visual design, and library science. In fact, the curriculum covers four distinct but related areas:

This comprehensive outlook gives students invaluable skills to truly excel in their careers.
