E-mail

To facilitate interaction with instructors, other students, and program administrators, you must have e-mail and Internet access.

The UO Continuing Education division uses the FirstClass e-mail system and gives all admitted and non-admitted students access to a personal mailbox. To access your mailbox and send e-mail within the system, you will need the FirstClass client software and an Internet connection. Using the client software is required and provided to you free using the following download links:

Once you've installed the software, you'll see the following:

Click on the Setup button to open the following screen. Use the image below as a guide for setting up FirstClass to interact with the UO Continuing Education mail server. The most important step is to add "continue.uoregon.edu" as the name of the server.

Get more detailed download and setup instructions here.

Although you may already have an e-mail account, AIM requires that you maintain a mailbox on our FirstClass system. Having everyone on the same system facilitates file transfers among students and instructors as well as limits misdirected messages. In addition, AIM uses FirstClass conferences (discussion groups) for each of our courses. Messages posted to these conferences do not forward. Please review the UO Continuing Education E-mail Policy for guidelines on using your student e-mail account.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the AIM Program Coordinator at aim@uoregon.edu.
