Karen Munro completed her master's in library and information studies at the University of British Columbia's School of Library, Archival, and Information Studies in 2002. In her position as literature librarian at the University of Oregon, her responsibilities included extensive research, reference, and consultation services for faculty across the humanities. At the University of California, Berkeley, she worked as the institution's first e-learning librarian, and was charged with the creation and delivery of library instruction in new media. As the head of the University of Oregon's Portland Library and Learning Commons, she provides research and consultation services for multiple disciplines, and has administrative oversight of library operations.
Karen's research interests include trends in how information is generated, packaged, distributed, and published; changing models of information use (i.e., how do we read, how do we share information); learning spaces and learning behaviors; and new business and service models for libraries, publishers, and other media managers. She has published and presented widely on these topics and others.
