Prior to joining the AIM Program, Jane Gholson had 26 years of educational experience including public school teaching, teaching at the University of Illinois, and tenured positions in the Department of Art Education and the Arts and Administration Program at the University of Oregon. Gholson managed an undergraduate teacher education program, taught undergraduate courses in The Arts and Visual Literacy, and graduate courses in Research Methods and Arts Program Evaluation. Gholson has advised both masters and doctoral research. She has said that the experience of middle school teaching is "the best and worst of preparation for anything that follows." Gholson is at her happiest in the teaching/learning environment, whether face-to-face or virtual, where complex, interdependent, interactive processes are forever fascinating and even exhilarating.
