Jon Dolan currently serves as the director of IT infrastructure at the Oregon State University (OSU), where he leads six teams of IT professionals providing the foundational IT services needed for the university to fulfill its teaching, learning, outreach, and discovery mission in the 21st century. Services include identity and access management, shared infrastructure including virtual servers and data storage, server management, networking, phone services, and video conferencing solutions for the OSU community.
With over 22 years in higher education IT at OSU, Dolan has provided key leadership on a wide range of technical and policy/compliance topics covering everything from e-mail to illegal file sharing. His most enduring professional accomplishments center around broadband and high-speed networking. Dolan's efforts to bring dark fiber to Corvallis and increase the overall network capacity for OSU has enabled collaboration and discovery using very large data sets such as those utilized in genomic research and the natural sciences. Through his work on the technical committee of the Oregon Health Network and the Oregon Broadband Advisory Council, Dolan also helped to foster a vibrant statewide Metro Ethernet market that has increased broadband availability statewide.
A native Oregonian, Dolan cares deeply about the state of Oregon and works to improve the lives of all Oregonians—regardless of their favorite college football team.
